Accused flees from cop custody

An accused in a theft case escaped from Sreemangal Police Station on Tuesday.

The accused is Selim Mia, 38, son of Md Arju Mia of Shahibag residential area in Sreemangal upazila town.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam said Selim was arrested as a suspected snatcher on Sunday night. Selim fled from the police station by jumping over the wall while it was being cleaned, he added.

The authorities closed ASI Monika Sarkar and Constable Sumon Deb for negligence of duty, said Mohammad Shahjalal, Superintendent of Police.
