Accused dies in jail

An accused in a murder case died in a jail in the district yesterday.

The deceased was Jakir Hossain Talukder, 54, son of late Moklesh Talukder of Jeebga Saturia village in Kawkhali upazila of the district. He was No 5 accused in Kawkhali upazila unit Jubo League leader Enamul Haque murder case.

Jail Superintendent Shameem Iqbal said Jakir fell sick yesterday, and was immediately taken to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital, where he died around 4:40am.

Quoting doctors, Shameem said Jakir died of cardiac arrest.

After post mortem, they handed Jakir's body over to his family members, he added.

Jakir was sent to the jail on October 29.
