Accused on 2-day remand

A court here yesterday granted a two-day remand for an accused in the case for the murder of schoolboy Jishan.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Wahiduzzaman gave the order, said Court Inspector Abdul Kader.

On Wednesday, police produced the accused before a court seeking a five-day remand and the court fixed the date for the hearing yesterday.

Son of Mamun Master of Kacharipara area in Jamalpur town, Nabin, 28, one of the three named accused in the case, was shown arrested on September 5 after the case was filed with Sadar Police Station the same day.

Monira Begum, mother of slain Mominul Islam Jishan of Muslembad area in the town, filed the case, accusing three named youths, including Nabin, and 10 to 12 unnamed people, said Sub-Inspector Asadul Islam.

The two other named accused are Rahi, 22, son of Md Ranju of Station Road area, and Kawsar, 24, son of Arju of Pathalia area.

Ninth grader Jishan, also the convener of the school unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, was stabbed to death when he came out of a cinema hall on September 3.
