ACC to specially monitor offices prone to graft

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said they will specially monitor the offices of different departments which had been alleged to be prone to corruption.

“Complain against corruption is the main thing to us, we are not bothered whether a person is a cadre or non-cadre,” the ACC chief told reporters at a press briefing at his office this morning.

The anti-graft watchdog caught red-handed 13 people while giving and taking bribes in 2016, he said adding that in 2017 the number will rise as the ACC has boosted its monitoring in this regard.   

“Whoever will do it, will face dire consequences,” Iqbal Mahmood warned.

BASIC Bank case

The case against BASIC Bank is complicated, therefore, it is taking a long time, he said while reacting to a query.

All ports including land and air were informed about the suspects in the BASIC Bank case in order to stop them leaving the country, he added.
