Abducted minor girl, schoolboy rescued

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive rescued a three-year-old girl of Feni district from Chittagong yesterday, a day after her abduction.
They also arrested one Shariful Islam, a relative of victim Tasrifa Jamal Shimran, daughter of Md Jamal Uddin of Uttar Mandia village in Chhagalnaiya upazila in connection with the abduction, reports our Feni correspondent.   
Marjina Akhter Poly, mother of the girl, said a gang picked up her daughter from their house on Wednesday afternoon and took her to an unknown place.
The kidnappers demanded Tk 10 lakh ransom from the family for her release, said Md Rashed Khan Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Chhagalnaiya Police Station.
Following a complaint filed by Poly, a team of Rab-7 raided Masterpara area under Bhujpur Police Station in Chittagong yesterday morning and rescued the girl from a house.
The elite force also arrested Shariful from the spot. However, two other kidnappers--Md Nabi and Md Lokman--managed to flee the scene, said the OC.  
Meanwhile, police rescued an abducted schoolboy from Shimulia ghat at Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj district yesterday afternoon, reports our correspondent.
The victim is Mahsin Munshi, 10, son of Shikander Munshi of Pashchim Nawduba village in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur, and a Class IV student of Majidkandi Government High School in the area.
A gang picked up Mahsin on his way to school in the morning, said family sources.
The family members then informed police about the matter.
When a launch reached Mawa ghat at around 12:30pm, the boy started crying, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam of Louhajang Police Station. 
Kalam rushed to the spot and rescued the boy.
