Abducted man rescued in Sylhet, five arrested

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued a man from Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet district on Wednesday, two days after his abduction from Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh.

The elite force also arrested five abductors, Dhonai Mia, 35, Robi Hosain, 32, Abdul Mazid, 24, Subed Ahmed, 23, and Jubayer Ahmed, 24.

Police said a gang picked up Younus Tarafdar, 56, from Phulbaria upazila headquarters around 3:00pm on Monday.

At around 6:00pm on Wednesday, a team of Rab-9, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive at the house of Dhonai Mia, one of the abductors, in Puran Dhamrai Bazar area in Jaintapur upazila and rescued Younus from the house. The law enforces also arrested the five kidnappers from there. The arrestees were handed over to Jaintapur Police Station yesterday morning.

Away in Bogra, An 11-year-old schoolboy, who went missing from Nandigram upazila on November 22, 2014, still remains traceless, reports our correspondent.

Victim's father Abu Taher, a resident of Kathom village in the upazila, said Shahadat Hosain, a Class IV student of Kathom Government Primary School, went out of his house in the afternoon and did not return home.
