Abducted man rescued, one arrested

Rapid Action Battalion rescued an abducted man and arrested one of the alleged abductors from Dubli Bhandar village in Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday.

The arrestee was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, 35, son of Hares Uddin of the village.

Police said three kidnappers abducted Nasir Uddin, 50, son of late Nayeb Uddin of Nishchintapur village in Meherpur Sadar upazila, from Chandra area of Gazipur on August 19.

Later, the gang phoned Nasir's family members and demanded Tk 9 lakh as ransom for his release.

Rabraided Siddique's house and rescued Nasir.

They also arrested Siddique from the house, said ASP Nur-e-Alam of Rab-5.
