9kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials seized 80 gold bars weighing 9.28 kilogrammes from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early today.

Customs Inspector Ataul Islam said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, BG-087, landed at the airport from Kuala Lampur around 4:30am.

Tipped off, a team of customs, led by its Deputy Commissioner Fahmida Mehzabin, conducted a search operation in the flight and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 4.68 crore from under a seat wrapped in black scotch tape.

However, no one was arrested in this connection.
