9 charged with killing 4 kids in Habiganj

Police submit charge sheet in four children killing case on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Police today pressed charge against nine persons including the prime accused in a case filed for killing four schoolboys in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj.

Muktadir Hossain, inspector of Detective Branch of Police in Habiganj, submitted the charge sheet to Judge Kawsar Alam of the Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate around 12:30pm.

The accused are: Abdul Ali, 60, his sons -- Rubel Mia, 18, Jewel Mia, 20, -- Arju (full name not known), 25, Bashir Mia, 32, Billal Mia, 30, Ostad Mia, 48, and Babul Mia, 45.

Of them, Billal, Ostad and Babul remain absconding while the rest are detained.

The for children -- Monir Miah, 7, Zakaria Shuvo, 8, Mohammad Tajel Mia, 10, and Ismail Miah, 10,--  had gone missing from Sundrateki village in Bahubal on February 12.

Five days later, their bodies were found buried under sand at a place around a kilometre off the village. Later, a murder case was filed with Bahubal Police Station.

Another accused Bachchu Mia was killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion.
