9 burnt in B’Baria fire

Nine people including five children from one family burnt in a fire in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria yesterday evening.

Nine people including five children from one family were burnt in a fire in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria yesterday evening.

The fire is believed to have originated from a gas cylinder leakage in one of the houses at Dakkhin Kuttapara area, reports Bangla daily the Prothom Alo.

The victims are: Jorina Begum, 30, Kalu Mia, 28, Sheuly Begum, 25, Eklash Mia, 25, Ibrahim Mia, 18, Saima Begum, 10, Taslima Begum, 10, Abdur Rahman, 8, and Eyamin Mia, 8, the daily adds.

Of them, Kalu Mia, Abdur Rahman and Eyamin Mia have been shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this morning.

The fire happened when a gas cylinder kept in a thatched roof hut began to leak and spread to surrounding houses along with the house belonging to an expatriate Russell Mia around 6:30pm.

Russell’s extended family including his parents, siblings and uncles’ lived together in the house that burnt down.
