9 BNP men held for ‘firing on Natore AL rally’

Police have detained nine suspects in a shooting incident on a Jubo League rally in Tebaria of Natore yesterday.
Two persons of the League were injured in the shooting.

The activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal were detained in a nightlong drive from Tebaria and Baragachha areas of the district, our Natore correspondent reports quoting Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Natore Sadar Police Station.

On Saturday evening, BNP activists led by Faisal Alam Babul, a leader of Swechchhasebak Dal, allegedly opened fire on the Jubo League rally near Mamun Bakery at Tebaria, the police official said.

Nazmul, joint convener of the town Jubo League unit, and Rajib, an activist of Chhatra Dal, were bullet-hit in the incident, the OC said.

Later, Nazmul and Rajib were admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital respectively, he added.
