Bangladesh government has completed the recruitment process of 79 new lower court judges through giving them postings as per the Supreme Court advice.

The law ministry today issued a gazette notification to this effect, asking them to assume office on January 22. The new judges have to join the district and sessions judges concerned.

President Abdul Hamid in November last year approved the appointments of 79 judges who were recommended by the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC) after holding relevant tests and examinations, law ministry sources said.

The BJSC had nominated 100 candidates though holding tests and examinations, but the president has approved 79 and dropped 21.
