6-lane Dhaka-Ctg expressway opens to traffic Jan 4

Construction work on the country's first six-lane Dhaka-Chittagong expressway at Mohipal in Feni completed six months earlier than the scheduled time.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the much-awaited expressway through video-conferencing on January 4, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told reporters after visiting the spot in the morning.

Even though it is a six-lane expressway, there will be a four-lane road service both sides below, the minister said.

The 660-metre expressway is being constructed involving Tk 157.99 crore to ease traffic congestion on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway and in its adjoining areas.
