6 killed in landslide, wall collapse in Ctg

Six people of three families were killed in separate incidents of landslide and wall collapse at Bayezid and Lalkhan areas of Chittagong city due to heavy rain early today.

The authorities have asked people of the neighbourhood through miking this noon to move to safer places to ensure safety, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

In Bayezid area, three children of a family are: Arafat Hossain, 12, Umme Salma, 5, and Bibi Morium, one-and-four-month-old. They died at the landslide triggered by rain at Amin Colony around 2:00am.

In Lalkhan area, two of a family and one of another family were killed due to wall collapse after heavy rainfall around 1:30am, said Md Nizamuddin, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station.

The deceased are: Marioum Begum, 30, and her daughter Suraiya, 2, and Akimur, 5.
