50 Ashulia RMG workers fall sick after having snacks

At least 50 workers of a garment factory in Ashulia, outskirts of the capital Dhaka, fell sick after taking snacks supplied by the factory this evening.

The sick workers of Anzir Apparels Ltd, located in Ganakbari area of Ashulia, were admitted at different local clinics and hospital including Dip General Hospital and Diagnostic Centre with severe vomiting and headache, reports our Savar correspondent.

The workers started vomiting immediately after they had taken the eggs and bread provided by factory authorities around 7:00pm, Al-Amin, 28, a worker at the factory, told our correspondent.

Md Shahbuddin Ahmed, a physician of the clinic, said around 50 RMG workers have so far been admitted to the clinic.

Reason behind the illness could not be known immediately, he said.

Production of the factory was suspended for hours after the incident, Mostafizul Rahman, director of Ashulia Industrial Police, told The Daily Star.
