5-yr-old brutally murdered in Sunamganj

A five-year-old boy was brutally killed in Sunamganj’s Derai upazila early today.

Police recovered the hanging body of Tuhin Miah from a tree at Kejaura village this morning, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Abu Taher Mollah, sub-inspector (SI) of Derai Police Station.

His ears were ripped off, throat slit open and genital cut off, the SI said adding that two knives were inserted inside his stomach.

When the child’s parents Abdul Basir and Monira Begum woke up at their Kejaura house around 2:30am, they found Tuhin missing and saw the door of house open, said one of the victim’s relative Imran Ahmed.

Hearing hue and cry, neighbours rushed to the spot and started looking for him and while searching, they saw some bloodstains on the road.

Following the road, they found the hanging body of Tuhin near a local mosque and informed police, the relative added.

Police are investigating the murder. The body has been sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Police found names of two villagers written on the handles of the knives that were inserted inside the stomach of the boy, said Soumya Chowdhury, chairman of Rajanagar union.
