5 land in jail

A court here sent five accused in the Ananda Barman murder case to jail yesterday.

The accused are Abdul Matin, 65, his sons Selim Hossain, 32, and Mostafizar Rahman, 45, and Majibar Rahman, 67, and his son Zahurul Islam, 40, of Banderkura village in Kaliganj upazila.

The court of Lalmonirhat Senior Judicial Magistrate Ferdousi Ara gave the order when the five surrendered before it. They went into hiding soon after the murder last year.

Ananda, 47, was killed over land dispute on May 20 in 2017.

Later, a murder case was filed with Kaliganj Police Station, accusing six people.
