Tk 4 cr Diesel Theft

5 Jamuna Oil Co staff held

Police on Saturday detained five staff of Jamuna Oil Company (JOC) in Chandpur on charge of stealing diesel fuel worth Tk 4 crore.  

The detainees are depot superintendent of JOCL Khademul, 36, operators Mizanur Rahman, 48, and Abu Bakar Siddque, 50, meterman Mojibul Haque, 38, and labourer Moslem Shah, 38.

A probe committee, led by Additional Secretary and Director (marketing) of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Mir Ali Reza, was formed by BPC to investigate the matter. 

Khairul Kabir, currently depot superintendent of JOC, filed a case with Chandpur Model Police Station on Saturday, said Officer-in-Charge Md Wali Ullah. 

Khademul was caught red-handed while illegally selling oil worth Tk 7 lakh on June 19 with the help of the other four 

accused. 

Khademul was suspended after the incident.
