Muktamoni, the 12-year-old girl from Satkhira who was diagnosed with a tumor in her right hand, underwent her fourth “successful” surgery at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) today.

The surgery started at 9:00am and went on for an hour, Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, told The Daily Star.

“Muktamoni is doing well,” he added.

Another operation will be conducted on Muktamoni beside her chest after considering her physical condition, Samanta Lal Sen said in reply to a question.

A week after doctors found a tumour in an artery of her arm, Muktamoni underwent her first successful surgery at the DMCH on August 12.

Nearly three kilogrammes of tumour was removed from her right hand in the operation. Later, the doctors conducted two more operations to remove the tumour from her hand, arms and shoulder.
