Around 40 villages were inundated and hundreds of houses affected in Cox’s Bazar as cyclone ‘Mora’ is intensifying over the North and adjoining East-Central Bay and heading towards the country’s coastal areas this evening.

Thousands of the villagers are passing their days amid huge uncertainty as the floodwater entered the villages damaging around five-kilometer of the embankment built by the Water Development Board in the district, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Chittagong and Cox's Bazar maritime ports have been advised to hoist “great danger signal” number 10 while Mongla and Payra ports to hoist great danger signal number eight, said a special weather bulletin of Met office.

‘Mora’ is likely to intensify further, move in a northerly direction and may cross Chittagong and Cox's Bazar coasts by tomorrow morning, according to the bulletin.
