40 children drown every day

Over 15,000 children drown annually in Bangladesh, according to a survey.

Forty children drown every day and among the total victims, 9,000 are aged between one and four years, according to the survey -- Bangladesh health and injury survey 2016.

A group of health experts revealed the information at a seminar titled "Saving of Lives from Drowning (SoLiD) project in Bangladesh".

Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) arranged the programme at a hotel in Dhaka.

The experts however suggested that the lives of the children can be saved if they are kept under a proper watch.
