4 state-owned banks get observers

The central bank appointed observers to the boards of four state-owned commercial banks today.

All of the observers are working in the Bangladesh Bank as executive directors.

“We want these banks perform better,” Subhankar Saha, executive director and spokesman of the Bangladesh Bank, told The Daily Star while explaining the rational of the appointments.

Naushad Ali Chowdhury has been appointed observer in Sonali Bank, Ahmed Jamal in Janata Bank, Abdur Rahim in Rupali Bank and Nirmal Chandra Bhakta in Agrani Bank.
