5 killed as truck hits human hauler in Bogra

Five people were killed and seven injured as a truck hit a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogra this morning.

The deceased are Anwar Hossain, 50, of Khadash Pashchimpara village in Shahjahanpur upazila; Arifur Rahman Sumon, 32, of Kukrul in Sadar upazila; Mokhlesur Rahman, 52, of Nimgram and Ramjan Ali, 60, of Chakalma village in Nandigram upazila; and Faruk Hossain, 30, of Khirkhanda village in Sherpur upazila of the district.

Of them, Arifur Rahman was the audit officer of a non-government organisation, Thengamara Mahila Sabuj Shangha (TMSS).  

All the deceased were passengers of Leguna, our Bogra correspondent reports quoting Bogra Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sanatan Chakrabarty.

The ASP said a Bogra-bound truck from Natore rammed an oncoming human hauler at Birgram on Natore-Bogra highway around 9:00am.

The injured are admitted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
