4 kids killed in Gazipur boat capsize

Four children, including three girls, were killed as a boat carrying them capsized in a beel (water body) in Bymile area of Gazipur city this afternoon.

The identities of the deceased, aged between 8-12 years, could not be known immediately, our local correspondent reports quoting Rezaul Karim, assistant sub-inspector of Vogra Police Camp.

They were having a boat ride to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr around 3:30pm when the boat sank into deep water at one stage, the police official said.

Although the rest of the passengers managed to swim ashore, the four children drowned. Later, locals recovered the bodies, the ASI added.
