4 ‘JMB militants’ including northern unit chief held in Bogra

A joint team of police arrested four suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including its Northern region's military unit chief, from Mokamtola area in Shibganj upazila of Bogra early today.

Tipped-off, district police and a team of police headquarters jointly conducted a drive in Mokamtola area around 1:00 am and arrested the four JMB operatives, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakraborty said.

The arrestees are Babul Akter alias Master, head of JMB northern region's military unit and Delwar Hossian alias Mistri, Alamgir Hossain alias Arif and Afzal Hossain, members of its Majlish-e-Sura.

The law enforcers also seized one 9mm pistol, one round of 9mm bullet, one magazine, 10 rounds of 7.62 bore bullets, four Burmese knives.

The detainees are now in custody of the district police.
