4 human traffickers held in Cox's Bazar

Law enforcers in separate drives arrested four human traffickers from Teknaf and Cox's Bazar town yesterday and the day before.

The arrestees are Mohammad, 42, son of Azhar Mia of Dakkhin Shilkhali village under Teknaf upazila, Mohammad Abdullah Bidyut, 40, son of Md Ferdous of Khuniapalong area in Ramu upazila, Puja Haldar, 18, of Shankarpur Laxminagar area in Delhi, and Laxmi Mohanta, 60, of Uttar Dinajpur in Paschimbanga.

Acting on secret information, a team of Teknaf police raided Shilkhali village in the afternoon and arrested Mohammad from his house.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ataur Rahman Khandaker of Teknaf Police Station said Mohammad is one of the listed human traffickers.

Mohammad Abdulla Bidyut, 40, was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) from Laldighirpar area in the town at around 5:00pm on Saturday. Police produced the duo in the Judicial Magistrate's Court that sent them to jail.

The elite force rescued two women from link Road area in the district town yesterday afternoon and arrested Puja Halder and Laxmi Mohanta from there.
