4 held over CU student killing, ‘motive found’

Four persons have been held over the killing of a Chittagong University student last week and the motive behind the murder was apparently an extramarital affair.

Arrestees Iqbal Hossain, 30, Yeasmin Akhter Rumpa, 21, Toiyob and Helal were held in the last 24 hours from Bhola and Chittagong, our local staff correspondent reports.

Bayezid Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mohsin said the four were arrested in line with the murder case filed by victim Mohammad Alauddin Alalul’s father.

 Mohammed Alauddin Alaul's body was found lying face down inside a bathroom with the limbs bound, the hands behind his back and ropes around his neck in a flat last Wednesday.

He was a Masters student of Bangla department student at Chittagong University.

Arrestee Yeasmin admitted that she had an extramarital affair with Alauddin.

Iqbal Hossain, Yeasmin’s husband, primarily admitted of killing Alauddin, but said he had planned to confront Aalauddin. “But the situation turned violent in the end.”
