PSC fixes dates for 38th, 39th BCS exams

Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has fixed the examination dates for the written tests of the 38th and preliminary for the 39th (special) BCS.

As per the decision of a special meeting held at PSC, the preliminary test of the 39th (special) BCS and the written test of the 38th BCS will be held on August 3 and August 8 respectively, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.

PSC Chairman Mohammad Sadiq confirmed the daily of the development.

About the development of results for 37th BCS, he said the commission is trying to publicise the results as soon as possible. However, he could not be specific.

The 39th (special) Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) is for recruitment to the position of 4,542 doctors and 250 dental surgeons. A total of 39,954 aspirants have applied for the test.

The test comprises of 200 marks of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and 100 marks of viva-voce.

As per the reformed policy, the marks distribution is as followed: Medical Science or Dental Science 100 marks, Bengali, English, Bangladesh and International Affairs 20 marks, IQ and Mathematics 10 marks.

Each question will be of single point and every wrong answer will lead to half point penalty. The written test will be held in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the PSC on February 28, this year published the results of the 38th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary test with 16,286 candidates coming out successful.

A total of 3, 46,440 candidates were eligible for the preliminary test but 2, 88,899 candidates took part in the exam. The test was held on December 29 last year.
