30 cartons of firecrackers seized, 2 held

Customs officials seized 30 cartons of firecrackers from a Dhaka-bound covered van in front of Benapole Customs House on Friday. 

Two people were arrested in connection with the incident, said Syed Ahmed Rubel, deputy commissioner (DC) of Benapole Customs House.

The arrestees are Selim Mia, 34, son of Sirajul Islam of Pallabi of Dhaka, and Asaduzzaman, 36, son of Samiul Morol of Putkhali village in Benapole.

On information, customs officials arrested the duo with the firecrackers. They also seized the covered van, said the DC.
