The Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) today identified three of the nine buildings, which tilted during yesterday’s earthquake, as “dangerous”.

“Three of the tilted buildings situated in WASA High Level Road, Jubilee Road and Chandgaon Residential Area are identified as dangerous,” CDA acting chief town planner Md Shahidul Islam Khan told our Chittagong correspondent after inspecting the tilted buildings in the port city.

Khan, also the chief of a three-member investigation team which was formed last night to assess the damage, said they would seek cooperation from the specialists of Chittagong Engineering and Technology University, if needed.

More than 60 people were also hurt slightly, mostly while rushing out of buildings in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet, after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and jolted Bangladesh last night.

The tremor was felt at 7:55pm in Bangladesh and its epicentre in Myanmar was 420km east of Dhaka city.
