3 girls raped

Three girls were raped in Tagail, Dinajpur and Moulvibazar in last five days.

A schoolgirl was raped inside the Sal forest in Biral upazila of Dinajpur on Tuesday, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

Villagers caught the alleged rapist Babul Hossain, 40, son of Safi Mohammad of Dharmapur Nayapara village under Biral upazila, and handed him over to police.

“Police sent the victim, a Class VII student, to hospital for medical test. The accused was sent to jail through a local court today [Wednesday],” said Abdul Mazid, OC of Biral Police Station.

Our Moulvibazar Correspondent reports: A teenage girl was gang-raped at Purbo Joydebpur village in Bahubol upazila of Habiganj on Monday night.

Police arrested a youth who admitted his involvement in the crime, said Md Masuk Ali, OC of Bahubol Police Station. 

The victim, hailing from Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj, said she developed an affair with Alam Kha, 32, son of Toyob Kha of Purbo Joydebpur village in Bahubol.

“Called by Alam for marriage, I came to Bahubal on Monday. In the evening, he and his friends took me on a car, saying that we were going to Kazi office. But they took me to an abandoned house and raped me,” she said.

“The criminals also burnt the girl with smouldering cigarettes. Locals found the girl senseless on Tuesday afternoon and admitted her to Habiganj Sadar Hospital,” said the OC.

Our Tangail Correspondent adds: Police arrested a Jubo League activist in Nagarpur upazila on charge of raping a schoolgirl.

On Tuesday night, the victim, 15, a Class VIII student of a local school, filed a rape case with Nagarpur Police Station and police arrested the accused, Mohammad Sazzad Hossain, 32, of Jalai village under Doptior union, also joint convenor of union unit of Jubo League, said Mohammad Main Uddin, OC of Nagarpur Police Station.
