3 die as trawler capsizes in Meghna river

At least three people died and three others were injured as a trawler capsized in Meghna river in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj today.

The identities of the deceased -- two men and one woman – could not be known immediatlely.

The trawler capsized in the river with 15 to 16 passengers this afternoon at Char Kishoreganj near Munshiganj district, said Md Shamsul Alam, in-charge of Gozaria river police outpost. 

Soon after the trawler capsized, some of the passengers managed to swim ashore from the river, our Munshiganj correspondent reports. 

However, the number of missing passengers is yet to be known. 

The injured people were taken to a local hospital.
