3 detained over attack on Narsingdi Hindu trader

Police today claimed to have detained three people including two local Jamaat-e-Islami leaders for their alleged link with the attack on a Hindu trader in Madhabdi upazila of Narshingdi.

The detainees are Noor Mohammad, 23, president of Pachdona union unit Islami Chhatra Shibir, Shahan Ullah, 30, Jamaat’s local ameer, and another Firoz Mia, 32.

Mohammad Ilias, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station, confirmed the development of the incident that took place on Thursday.

A group of miscreants swooped on Chittaranjan Adya, 50, with machetes inside his grocery shop near a Kali Temple in the upazila around 9:00pm on Thursday leaving him critically injured.

Islamic State allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
