23 BNP, Jamaat men sent to jail

Twenty-three BNP and Jamaat activists were sent to jail yesterday after they were produced before a Jessore court.

Police arrested 13 of them from Sharsha upazila and 10 from Benapole and seized 25 bombs from their possession during drives in different areas.

The arrestees include Benapole municipality Jamaat Secretary Alhaj Osman Gani, Benapole Municipal Commissioner Amirul Islam, Sharsha Thana Chhatra Dal Senior Vice-president Al Mamun Bablu, Publicity Secretary Raihanuzzaman Dipu and union and ward level activists.
