2,065 more dengue patients in 24hrs

DGHS data shows gradual rise of dengue cases

Dengue cases are increasing across the country as around 2,065 more new patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne deadly virus in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Monday.

The number of new dengue patients was 1,870 on Monday while 1,649 on Saturday across the country, according the data of Directorate General of Health Service.

The DGHS findings shows a gradual rise of the dengue infection cases across the country.

As per the today’s data of DGHS, around 27,437 dengue patients were admitted to different hospital across the country from January 1 to till the date.

Currently 6,858 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country, it said.

Though the DGHS have been saying for the last two days that a total of 18 people, who infected with the dengue fever since January 1, have died, but the hospital sources put the death toll as high as 60.

As per the media reports, at least 11 dengue patients have died since August 3.

Meanwhile, while inaugurating a crash programme in Manikganj to prevent the mosquito menace, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik today said that the number of dengue cases are coming down gradually.
