2 tonnes of Hilsa fry seized in Ctg, 1 held

As part of drive to conserve the national fish of Bangladesh, the fisheries department on March 10, 2017 seized two tonnes of Hilsa fry in the port city of Chittagong.

As part of drive to conserve the national fish of Bangladesh, the fisheries department today seized two tonnes of Hilsa fry in the port city of Chittagong.

A mobile court carried out the drive and seized the huge amount of fry from a fish depot around 11:00am, our local staff correspondent reports.

Arafat Hossain, an assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of Chittagong district admin, endorsed the facts and said such drives will continue in the future.

The manager of the depot, Igloo Barua, has been detained, he added.
