2 ‘robbers’ beaten dead in Savar

A mob beat two suspected robbers to death while they were trying to flee after alledgedly committing a robbery at Savar, on the outskirts area of Dhaka, early today.

The identities of the “robbers” could not be known immediately, reports our Savar correspondent.

A gang of at least 12 “robbers” attacked a house of one Shunil around 2:30am at Bhakurta village at Bat Tola area of Savar, Md Abdul Motaleb Miah, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station said quoting the locals.

They looted valuables from the house keeping the family members before gun point, the OC said.

Meanwhile the neighbours detected the incident and gathered other villagers together. While trying to escape, the villagers beat two of the alleged robbers while the others managed to escape from the area.

“Police is investigating the incident. No cases were filed yet,” the OC said.
