2 militant suspects held

Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested two students on suspicion of involvement with militancy from Companyganj upazila in the district on Sunday.

The arrestees are Amjadul Islam Rasel, 23, son of Nasir Ahmed of Ward No 8 in Basurhat municipality, and Abu Abdullah Ishtiaque, 17, son of Sarwar Hossain Liton of ward No 4 in Charkakra union. They were held from their homes at night.

Rasel is a 7th semester student of CSE department at Uttara University while Ishtiaque is a Class X student of Basurhat Government High School.

Officer-in-Charge of Companyganj Police Station Syed Fazle Rabbi said a team of CTU led by its Inspector Shawkat Ali conducted a raid from 8:00pm to 11:00pm  and arrested the two.
