2 killed in Cox’s Bazar polls violence

Two people were killed when supporters of two member candidates swopped on the election officials to snatch the ballot boxes at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar this evening.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Gafur, 36, and Mohammad Shafik, 22, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Masud Munshi, sub-inspector of Bahachara Police Investigation Centre under the Teknaf Police Station.

The incident took place in Mondartal area around 7:30pm when the election officials along with the ballot boxes were heading towards the Teknaf Upazila headquarters after finishing vote counting, the police official added.
