2 JMB men arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two active members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Dinajpur Sadar upazila early yesterday.

The arrestees are Badal Mia, 32, of Ramchandrapur village in Gaibandha Sadar upazila, and Belal Hossain, 25, of Ghoraban village in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur.

Lt Col ATM Atiqullah, commander of Rab-13, said acting on a tip-off they raided Chehelgazi Mazar area and arrested the duo around 1:00am.

In primary interrogation, they confessed that they joined JMB about eight years ago and spent most of the time in Narayanganj, Atiqullah said.

Badal, who was an Imam of a mosque in Gaibandha, is an accused in several cases filed with Gaibandha Police Station.
