Detectives today claimed to have detained two suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) from the capital city Dhaka.

The detainees Aminul Islam Begh, 40, is a local recruiter of IS, and Sakib bin Kamal, 30, his associate, Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told reporters at DMP media centre.

Begh, the information technology chief of a multinational company in Dhaka, already selected 20 activists including Kamal, a teacher of a English medium school, to join IS in Syria and Iraq, Monirul said.

A team of police from Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Begh, who was a regional coordinator of JMB, in Uttara while Kamal in Lalmatia in the city last night.
