2 hurt in Ctg lift ‘collapse’

Two persons are injured as a lift of a hospital in Chittagong city 'collapsed' on January 18, 2017.

Two persons were injured as a lift of a hospital in Chittagong city 'collapsed' this evening.

The injured were identified as Saiful, 28, the lift operator and Rahim, 30, a security guard of Chattagarm Maa-O-Shishu Hospital in Agrabad area.

They are undergoing treatment at the hospital, said Jashim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

The lift might have collapsed on the ground floor from either from 2nd  or 3rd floor of the four-storey building around 6:45 pm, Dr Nurul Huq, a director of the hospital, said, adding that the lift did not tear off. 

He, however, could not learn the reason behind the collapse.
