2 held over brutal murder of Dhaka teenage boy

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) today arrested two people from Dhaka’s Khilkhet area in connection with the murder of teenage boy Nazim.

The two arrestees are identified as Md Sabuj Mia, 48 and Harechha, 49, according to a press release issued by PIB in this regard. 

“Nazim Uddin, 16, was brutally beaten and killed by a mob in Dhaka’s Khilkhet area on April 13 last year for allegedly stealing a pigeon from a neighbour’s house and his body was dumped in the nearby Balu River,” Mina Mahmuda, Additional SP (Dhaka metro) of PBI, told The Daily Star.

Later on April 16, Nazim's body was recovered from the Shitalakkhya River at Noapara of Rupganj in Narayanganj and was buried as an unidentified person.

A secretly captured video of the brutal torture and murder was released in social media and several news channels broadcasted it.

Nazim’s father Jalal Uddin filed a case on April 17 under Khilkhet Police station against seven people in this regard after he came to know of his son’s death the very day from a neighbor who claimed to have witnessed the incident.
