2 held with 148 sacks of paddy seed

Bangladesh Coastguard  seized 148 sacks of illegally kept Aman paddy seed from Galachipa upazila headquarters on Friday. Fertilizer shop owner Mojibor Rahman, 40, and his employee Humayun Kabir, 30, were arrested in this connection.

Mojibur kept the seeds of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation in his shop illegally, said Abdul Mannan, Galachipa upazila agriculture extension officer.

Mojibur sold the seeds to local farmers for Tk 100 a kg while the government fixed price is Tk 54, said local sources.
