10 injured in Magura clash

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Sabdalpur village in Sreepur upazila of Magura on Wednesday.

Of the injured, seven were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital while the rest given first aid.

Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between village leader Sabbir Ahmed and former union parishad member Hafiz Uddin over establishing supremacy in the area.

Around 2:00pm on Wednesday, supporters of the two rivals locked in an altercation over a trivial matter at Kazoli bazar. 

As a sequel to the conflict, the men of Hafiz attacked the supporters of Sabbir around 9:00pm, triggering a clash. At least 10 people from both sides were injured during the incident.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Rezaul Islam, OC of Sreepur Police Station.

No case was filed as of filing of this report around 7:00pm yesterday, he said.
