‘JMB link found in 6 Rangpur, Dinajpur attacks’

Police found Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh’s link to the killing of Japanese national Kunio Hoshi and five recent incidents of attacks in Rangpur and Dinajpur, the deputy inspector general (DIG) of police (Rangpur range), said today.
Law enforcers have so far arrested 18 JMB men from Rangpur, Dinajpur and Gaibandha for their alleged involvement in the attacks, DIG Humayun Kabir was talking to reporters at his office.
“But we cannot not share details for the sake of the investigation,” he said.
“They are involved in the murder of Japanese citizen Kunio Hoshi and Khadem of a mazar [shrine] and the attack on Rangpur medical chief's personal assistant,” the police official said.
The police official came up with the comments a few days after attacks on two temples in Dinajpur.
Unidentified gunmen hurled a crude bomb inside a Hindu temple in Dinajpur and opened fire at its entrance, injuring two people on December 10.
Five days before the attack, six people were injured in an explosion next to the 18th century Kantaji Mandir in the district when spectators were watching jatra (folk theatre).
Besides, an Italian doctor was injured in a gun attack by unknown assailants in Dinajpur town on November 18.
