BNP will resist if the government tries to remove the grave of the party founder Ziaur Rahman from Jatiya Sangsad area, a party leader said today.

“It will be a chapter of stigma in the politics if the government removes the grave of Zia,” said BNP Vice-Chairman Maj (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

The central leader also urged the government not to try to implement such activity.

He came up with the comment during a discussion at a programme organised by Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

He made the comment after media reported that the government recently took decision to remove six to seven graves from the JS area.

Regarding the handover of Ulfa leader Anup Chetia, he said: “BNP wants to know a clear account by which procedure he was handed over to India”.
