Covid-19: 1,333 people aged above 60 have so far died

54 die, 2,275 infected, 1,792 recover in 24 hours

Fifty-four people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.

The death toll now stands at 2,928 and the death rate at 1.31 percent.

Two thousand two hundred and seventy-five people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

With them, the total number of cases in the country is 2,23,453 and the current infection rate is 22.57 percent.

The total infection rate stands at 20.01 percent, according to DGHS.

A total of 10,078 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 1,792 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries stands at 1,23,882 and the recovery rate at 54.44 percent.

Six hundred and sixty-eight people were put under isolation across the country in the last 24 hours.

Among the deceased, 40 were males and 14 females. Forty-eight of them died at hospitals and rest at home, Dr Nasima said.

One was between 21-30 years-old, three between 31-40, eight within 41-50, 15 between 51-60, 17 between 61-70, seven within 71-80, and three between 81-90 years old, she added.

Of them, 19 were from Dhaka, 10 from Chattogram, eight from Khulna, seven from Rajshahi, six from Sylhet, three from Rangpur, and one from Barishal divisions.

A total of 1,333 people aged above 60 have so far died from coronavirus infections, she said.
