Covid-19: 41 die, 3,057 infected, 1,841 recover in 24 hours

Forty-one people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.

The death toll now stands at 2,709 and the death rate at 1.29 percent.

Three thousand fifty-seven people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

With them, the total number of cases in the country is 2,10,510 and the current infection rate is 23.7 percent.

The total infection rate stands at 19.96 percent, according to DGHS.

Bangladesh now stands on the 16th position in the list of worst affected country in the world in terms of the number of cases.

The position is one step ahead Colombia and one step behind Turkey, according to worldometer.info. 

A total of 12,898 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 1,841 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries stands at 1,15,397 and the recovery rate at 54.82 percent.

A total of 710 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.

Among the deceased 34 were male and seven were female while 15 were from Dhaka, 15 from Chattogram, one from Rangpur, five from Rajshahi and five were from Khulna division.

Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, two between 31-40, six within 41-50, 12 between 51-60, 11 between 61-70, seven within 71-80, two were from 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
