Designate 6 hospitals to treat coronavirus-infected lawyers, Dhaka Bar Association urges

Dhaka Bar Association (DBA) yesterday appealed to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to take necessary measures to ensure treatment for coronavirus-infected members and their families at six hospitals in the capital.

The hospitals are -- Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, East-West Hospital at Uttara, Samorita Hospital Ltd, National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute and Ibrahim Medical College (BIRDEM).

Md Hossain Ali Khan Hassan, general secretary of the bar association, yesterday submitted the appeal to DGHS for its quick steps in this regard.

The bar association also appealed for setting up a booth at Dhaka District Judge's Court area, adjacent to the association,to collect samples for Covid-19 tests for members and their families.

In the application, Hassan said Dhaka Bar Association is an Apex Bar of Asia Sub-Continent with over 25,000 members. Recently, a number of lawyers and their family members tested positive for coronavirus and some lawyers died of coronavirus without proper treatment.

So, the bar association appealed to DGHS to take necessary steps to provide Covid-19 treatment to its members and their families as early as possible.

The DGHS, on June 18, allowed members of the Supreme Court Bar Association and their families to take treatment for Covid-19 at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital and East-West Hospital at Uttara.
